was born in 2347 on the Federation starship U.S.S. Triconderosa,
where his parents worked as science officers. He spent much of his
spare-time in engineering, near Lieutenant Vickery, the chief engineer
of that ship. He learned a lot about warp drives and other technologies
there, until he visited Starfleet Academy in 2365. After four years at
the academy his first assignment was the U.S.S. Midway, a SF/I
(Starfleet Intelligence) attached starship. The Midway was also
SF/I-Admiral Dougherty's ship until 2375. In 2375 Haywire was appointed
acting chief engineer, until he was transferred to the U.S.S. Constant
in 2377 as Chief Engineer.
Haywire and the Starfleet Intelligence: Ever since his transfer to the Midway Haywire was closely attached to SF/I. At first he was only a normal engineer aboard a SF/I vessel, but soon leading SF/I operatives noticed his talent to quickly understand new technologies, a fact that they used when they shortly assigned him to TF-7, a special forces unit that had to steal other races' technologies. After three months in TF-7 he joined Admiral Dougherty's staff in 2373. He was responsible for the successful tests of four new devices (such as the illegal phasing cloak Mark II - unofficially the Romulan government had allowed SF/I to build and operate a strictly limited amount of these devices) and he was mentored by the Admiral who saw much potential in the young officer. It was mostly because of the Admiral's recommendation that Haywire became acting chief engineer so early in his career, after only 5 years of active duty. In 2372, when he joined the special forces unit, <<censored name>> ceased to exist, and Haywire was born. Only very few people know his real name in 2377, one of them is the Captain of the Constant.
